Her rural upbringing in the West Country has strongly influenced her subjects and the depiction of the landscape. Inspiration for Jo's paintings is often drawn from the environment and the people of her childhood. Modern life is gradually and inexorably eroding age-old patterns of life and systems of belief. Jo March landscape paintings capture the essence of the bucolic farm land which has hitherto changed so little but is now fast vanishing. “When I first saw Jo March paintings, I was struck by the textures of the landscape. A patchwork of fields showing harmony between traditional farming and the natural world. A scene of hard work but plentiful harvests - and people living a simple and contented life. They show scenes that many of us thought were timeless but that could so easily be lost forever.
