Stokes Croft The Great Wave mug
"Every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you're connected to the sea."- Sylvia Earle
"We need to respect the oceans and take care of them as if our lives depend on it... because they do."
Earle is a pioneering marine biologist and conservationist. Her campaign Mission Blue aims to create a global network of marine protected areas. These areas currently encompass 2.07% of the world's oceans.
More than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans every year.
The design for this mug is based on the iconic woodblock print "Great Wave of Kanagawa" by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. The water is strewn with plastic debris.
This mug is based on an original re-usable mug. Stokes Croft China highly recommends using this mug for your take-away drinks, instead of non-recyclable cups.

Stokes Croft China
Bristol's famous Stokes Croft China mixes vintage decorative transfers with the street art and politics found in the Stokes Croft Area. With a small production of pieces, most of their china is one of a kind.
