At approximately 10cm x 10cm/ 4” x4” in size and 6mm thick, this beautiful coaster is the ideal size for placing underneath a mug of tea or a glass of wine. It makes the perfect addition to a dining or coffee table, or as a gift for a wine, coffee or tea lover. Each coaster is handmade by Eva Glass Designs in Bristol, UK through combining screen printing and glass fusing techniques. Eva screen prints the flower design in white enamel onto a piece of clear glass, and fuse this on top of a second piece of glass covered with a blend of coloured glass powders in shades of pale blue and turquoise. The coaster is fired in a kiln heated to around 800C and allowed to cool very slowly to prevent the glass cracking. Placing clear glass on top of the bottom coloured layer gives a shiny, glossy finish and trapped air sometimes adds attractive bubbles to the finished item. As each coaster is individually handmade there might be slight variations in each item. Glass coasters are stronger and more robust than traditional cork drinking coasters and will not stain or wear out. Although not dishwasher-friendly, it is guaranteed they can be cleaned easily with a cloth and glass cleaner, furniture polish or warm soapy water. Bumper stops are attached underneath each corner to protect furniture.
