Close Quarters
This is a one off original piece.
This piece was part of an exhibition about landscape and topography of Bristol. Artists involved took a balloon flight over Bristol, which inspired the creation of the artwork.
Seeing patterns within Bristol streets and landmarks, lino printing and the possibilities of repeating imagery using this process fitted well with this idea of pattern.
Sarah produced five original pieces using a mix of lino printing, directly rollered ink, cut & torn paper and silver leaf.
This mixed media piece is made up of three repeated prints of Totterndown streets, with highlighted hand coloured houses and silver leafed windows where the sun catches the light. The shadow of a balloon passes over shading part of the housing from the sun.
Totterdown is well known for its colourful and jam packed houses which cascade down one of Bristol's seven hills.
The overall size of the frame is 72cm x 31cm.
